Neutrophil extracellular traps and common carotid intema media thickness as predictors of cardio vascular risk in patients with systemic lupus erythematous

چکیده
Background: Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are chromatin complexes of cell-free DNA and histones, with attached neutrophil granular proteins which trap kill infectious microbes. NETs essential in host defense, also linked to inflammation autoimmunity, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) recently emerged as contributor arterial venous thrombosis. Common carotid intema media thickness (CIMT) used commonly indicator for subclinical atherosclerosis myocardial infarction rheumatic diseases. In the current study, we investigated, role NET CIMT human SLE their association disease activity cardiovascular complications. Methods: Levels (human myeloperoxidase-DNA complexes) were analyzed plasma from 40 patients healthy individuals using MPO ELISA kit, risk was assessed these groups by CIMT.Results: Comparison between both showed significant difference level MPO) (p< 0.01), positive correlation complications. Conclusion: could be good predictors patients.

Footprints of neutrophil extracellular traps as predictors of cardiovascular risk.
C ardiovascular events, such as myocardial infarction and stroke, are leading causes of mortality and morbidity in Western societies. Biomarkers could help to predict the risk of a patient and to advance the treatment of people at risk by allowing fine-tuning of the intensity of therapy. 1 Although more recent studies have used proteomic, metabolomic, and genetic approaches to identify biomarke...
متن کاملDegradation of neutrophil extracellular traps co-varies with disease activity in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus
INTRODUCTION The ability to degrade neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) is reduced in a subset of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). NETs consist of chromatin covered with antimicrobial enzymes and are normally degraded by DNase-I, an enzyme which is known to have reduced activity in SLE. Decreased ability to degrade NETs is associated with disease activity. In the current stud...

Introduction: Common carotid artery intima-media thickness (CCA-IMT) correlates with cardiovascular mortality in patients under hemodialysis. In this investigation, we evaluated relationship between CCA-IMT with dependent and independent cardiovascular risk factors in chronic hemodialysis patients. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 51 chronic hemodialysis patients, (31 males and 20 fema...
متن کاملPathogenic immunity in systemic lupus erythematous and atherosclerosis: common mechanisms
Systemic lupus erythematous (SLE) is an autoimmune syndrome primarily affecting young women characterized by inflammation in several organs including kidneys, skin, joints, blood and the nervous system. Abnormal immune cellular and humoral responses play key roles in the development of the disease process. Impaired clearance of apoptotic material is a key factor contributing to activation of se...
متن کاملNeutrophil extracellular traps that are not degraded in systemic lupus erythematosus activate complement exacerbating the disease.
Ongoing inflammation including activation of the complement system is a hallmark of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Antimicrobial neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are composed of secreted chromatin that may act as a source of autoantigens typical for SLE. In this study, we investigated how complement interacts with NETs and how NET degradation is affected by complement in SLE patients....
